A lot of people hesistate when it comes to syncing their iOS device with a new computer especially when they don’t want to lose any data that’s already thee on their devices. It might be a difficult task, but definitely not impossible! If you are already managing your content with iCloud on your computer and iOS device, you can manage the data from iCloud on your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch. Have you ever tried to get content off an iPod or iPhone and onto a new computer?
As it turns out, transferring content from an iOS device and to a new or different computer isn’t a feature that is supported in iTunes. Even so if you need to do it it’s quite easy, and we’ll walk you through exactly how to copy any content you need from a device and back to a computer.
Before setting up syncing, download and install the latest version of iTunes. Wi-Fi syncing requires iTunes 10.5 or later and iOS 5 or later. You can change your sync options in any time. Each time you sync, content is synced between your iOS device and computer to reflect new, updated, or deleted content. However the syncing process is not done automatically between your App store and iTunes. Make sure you save the pictures and movies you have sent or received through the Messages app into your Camera Roll before importing them to your computer.
Basically syncing your iOS device with your computer means that you want to make iTunes on that computer to accept your device just as it is. However, the problem is that whenever you connect your device with a new computer iTunes would usually offer to erase or replace your current content which is definitely something you wouldn’t want to do.
Syncing allows you to keep all your information safe and backed up on other devices or computers. You can sync pretty much everything from contacts, calendars, bookmarks, and notes with other applications on your computer. You can easily access and adjust your syncing settings through the Info tab for your iOS device in iTunes. Just connect your iOS device to your computer, Select iOS device and then click the Info tab.
Whether you want to sync all your contact list, a single group or even one contact detail. If you are using Mac, you can sync all your contacts on your iOS device simply by choosing “Sync Address Book Contacts” and “Sync Contacts with” if you are using windows.
You can also use the Advanced options to replace the Contacts, Calendars, or Notes in case you find difficulty syncing your details. These options will become deselected after the next sync. When you replace the data on the device, it will overwrite the data on the device. This action cannot be undone.
